![]() ![]() Good luck in learning Any% CP Shade Soul. It is common for people to want to get nail 1 when they start, but getting a nail upgrade is so minuscule that, for many new players, it is actually faster to get Shade Soul and make up the time by dying less. In general, I recommend this guide to anyone who wants to learn how to speedrun but is too overwhelmed to learn the standard any% route which is insanely difficult. If you want a truly optimized example, watch world record runs for (same) splits. ![]() Each split will also have a video of me performing it, but keep in mind that these videos will almost always feature imperfections in movement and execution. This guide will have links to almost every optional trick/optimization that you can perform, though 95% of them are optional. Splits marked with (same) use the exact same movement and route. Many of the splits are the exact same as the traditional routes except for the few where we need to take a detour and pick up Shade Soul, and the fact that we will actually have Shade Soul in the late game. It bypasses a few of the harder sections of the tradition any% route with shade soul including: devouts, infected crossroads, bosses, and petra arena. If you do need the Void Heart then it would require beating White Palace without Crystal Heart and Monarch Wings (I'm not sure if that's possible even with skips).Welcome to the Any% Current Patch NMG Shade Soul Route guide! The purpose of this guide is to introduce people to an easier route for the any% category. ![]() The Abyss lake route is another option that might have merit - you can definitely swim in that lake (and so presumably reach the Shade Cloak) if you have the Void Heart (which makes both the lake and the earlier pools inert along with the Siblings) but I'm not sure if it can be done without it. Using pogo to cross the spikes is no problem until you get to the end - the platform on the other side is high up and is one of those surfaces you can't use Mantis Claw to climb image. But to get double jump you need to cross the larger spike corridor in Ancient Basin to fight Broken Vessel. I'm not sure if it's possible to jump into the acid and force a respawn on the right side (though that gets a little close to abusing a glitch for my liking).īoth pools can be crossed if you have the regular dash and the double jump (Monarch Wings). One of them has a barrier coming down from the ceiling to force you really close to the acid. So we can get through the spike tunnel but there are still 2 pools of acid meant to be passed with Crystal Heart. Unless my memory is wrong this was done long before unlocking the sewer grate - I ended going backwards through the spike tunnel to reach the main part of the sewers because I didn't know there was an easier entrance. However I have memories of my very first play through where I started getting really lost after Resting Grounds (missed the stag station) and somehow ended up in the right side area of the sewers and coming up at the noble ladies house. Shade Cloak is already out and it seems like I need Crystal Heart for both paths to reach Isma's Tear (spikes tunnel or acid tunnel). The hitch is reaching the library to deal with that dreamer for which I can see only 3 approachs: the Shade Cloak to pass through the barrier, Isma's Tear to go through the acid or Spoiler: I've been looking over maps trying to figure out if it's possible to beat the game (normal ending) without collecting the Crystal Heart/Super Dash and further without the Shade Cloak (though I think Crystal Heart is needed for that anyway). ![]()
